Mission Statement: A Spirit-led people gathered to care for and empower each other by stewarding God’s resources to impact our community for Christ
We are people who are gathered by the Holy Spirit
We are each called to this time and place to live in community with one another pointing to the cross of Christ
Incarnational (Physical)
Because God chose to be with us in the flesh, we are also called to be among each other. (Phil. 2:5-11)
Our gathering is physical, incarnational. We are the body of Christ.
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Heb 10:25 NIV) Our gathering celebrates our unique giftedness in Christ
The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. (1 Cor 12:12 NIV)
Trinitarian (Unified)
Because God is three in one, we are called to be one. Even in our diversity, we are to have the mind of Christ. (John 14:9-12)
Our gathering models the community of the Triune God.
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. (Deut 6:4 NIV)
Our gathering promotes one mind, the mind of Christ
I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought. (1 Cor 1:10 NIV)
Eschatological (Future Oriented)
Because God has a plan for the future, we are called to live into His plan. (Jer. 29:11)
Our gathering reminds us of who we are, and who we are to become
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Pet 2:9 NIV)
Our gathering points future generations to the Kingdom of God
18) Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the LORD: 19) “The LORD looked down from his sanctuary on high, from heaven he viewed the earth, 20) to hear the groans of the prisoners and release those condemned to death.” 21) So the name of the LORD will be declared in Zion and his praise in Jerusalem 22) when the peoples and the kingdoms assemble to worship the LORD. (Psa 102:18–22 NIV)
Worship is the primary gathering setting for the people of First Baptist. While there are Sunday school classes, small group, and many opportunities for ministry, we believe that worship is the foremost gathering of the people of God. Join us for either traditional (9:15 a.m.) or contemporary (11:15 a.m.) worship each Sunday morning.
