We are a community that has struggled through a period of conflict. As we emerge from these years of feuding, we are experiencing a period of paralysis. We look to scripture, particularly Acts and the Pauline epistles, for guidance to return to a fully functioning group of Jesus followers. We must learn to make decisions in life-giving ways. Rome at Last

As we finish the book of Acts, we journey with Paul on a treacherous voyage to Rome. From shipwrecks to snakebites Paul not only survives, but he proclaims the gospel in every place he finds himself. Luke concludes his account with Paul speaking the gospel boldly. “Boldly and without hindrance he preached the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Acts 28:31 NIV)

On Trial

Arrested

Paul is determined to reach Jerusalem. Even though he is warned to stay away, he ventures into the city. In order to save him from the raging mob, the Romans arrest Paul. Paul counts every opportunity to share the gospel as gain.

I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus (Acts 21:13 NIV)

Trouble in the City

The gods We Serve

Paul is deeply disturbed by what he finds in the city of Athens. Yet he engages the culture, relating the Gospel among the religious, in the marketplace, and among the intellectuals.

How do we encounter our culture? Are we more wowed or disturbed? Do we find ourselves drawn into the trappings of our culture? Are we able to speak into culture the good news of Jesus?

Sally Barrett shares from her experience in Chicago this summer and Wade teaches from Acts 17.
