Last night, Levi came up to me and handed me a letter. It was an envelope with a torn off sheet of paper with three letters on it (ZBA). He had written me a letter, he told me. It said ‘Zebra’. There was nothing special about this sheet of paper. In fact, the letters were hardly legible. But I hugged him and told him ‘Thank you Levi! This is so cool!’ The paper was important because my son made it for me. It revealed that he thought about me, took time to craft the letters, and offered it to me with a huge smile on his face. There is no doubt, I was thrilled. As I am preparing for this week’s sermon, Galatians 4 tells us we are ‘Sons of God’. We now call him ‘Abba’ or ‘Daddy’. As I think about my own relationship with my children, it reminds me that God desires this sort of relationship with us. What we offer Him is not nearly as important as the fact that we offer it to Him. He wants us to think about Him, take time with Him, and offer Him part of who we are. Just as Levi’s tattered letter brings a smile to my face, God is glorified by our relationship with Him. Do you view God as ‘Daddy?’ Are you living as his child?
