Frequently Asked Questions
1- Where can I park?
There is plenty of parking on all sides of the church. The largest parking lot is on the east side of the church.
2- What do i wear?
The short answer is anything you would like. There are some who feel most comfortable in their “Sunday best”. You will see some in ties and dresses (not usually both at the same time) There are others in jeans. By in large, those in the early service usually dress a bit more formal, while those in the late service are more casual. We believe that you should dress as you feel comfortable and in a way that facilitates your worship.
3- Who is preaching this weekend?
On most weekends our pastor, Wade Allen preaches. We sometimes have a guest speaker.
4- What time are the worship gatherings?
We have two gathering times to worship together on Sundays. The Early Gathering begins at 9:15 a.m. The Late Gathering begins at 10:45 a.m. Sunday school classes are at the same time as the services 9:15 and 10:45. There is an all church fellowship time from 10:15 – 10:45.
5- How do I become a member of First Baptist Church?
Everyone is welcome at First Baptist Church. Membership is a commitment that we encourage you to make if you attend First Baptist on a regular basis, click here to read more about membership.
First Baptist Church is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches/USA and the American Baptist Churches of Indiana & Kentucky.
American Baptists are a Christ-centered, biblically grounded, ethnically diverse people called to radical personal discipleship in Christ Jesus. Our commitment to Jesus propels us to nurture authentic relationships with one another; build healthy churches; transform our communities, our nations, and our world; engage every member in hands-on ministry; and speak the prophetic word in love.
To join Muncie First Baptist Church a person normally will present himself/herself for membership by coming forward at the end of a worship service when the pastor invites people to join the church. Any person who professes faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior may be admitted for membership by any one of the following methods:
- by making your profession of faith in Jesus Christ public and following that with baptism,
- by transferring your membership from another church,
- by stating that you are a Christian and have been a member of a church but for one reason or another transfer of a letter from that church is unlikely.
Although Muncie First Baptist Church only baptizes by immersion, the church accepts as valid baptism any form of believer's baptism. If a person was baptized as a infant, the church accepts that baptism as valid if the individual has completed some form of a catechism class. If not, the church requires that the individual be baptized as a believer.
Any believer who is temporarily living in the Muncie community may unite with Muncie First Baptist Church during the individual's stay in Muncie and retain membership in his/her home church. Traditionally, college students have joined as associate members. An Associate Member has no vote on church matters and may not hold elected positions, but may attend church meetings, may assume some positions of leadership, and is invited to participate in all church activities. Such membership terminates upon completion of his/her temporary stay.
